The phrase”Lest We Forget” forms the refrain of the poem “Recessional” by Rudyard Kipling, offering a warning about the perils of hubris and the inevitable decline of imperial power, and in more recent times used more as a plea not to forget past sacrifices. Reading it for the first time in middle school in a post colonial India that was impoverished by 200+ years under a parasitic power, I remember resonating with the message as I understood it, aligning with all who spoke up for those masses that were repressed by such powers and their ambitions.

Over time many have tried to bring related topics up for awareness and discussion. They were heard by many, though not acted upon in time by the masses to thwart the progress by such imperial agendas. Yet, the messages are more relevant today than ever before, if we only took the time ..
